- Project Manager, Mining & Aggregates Consultant

NRM is a growing leader in geological, environmental, and mining consulting. We provide services across North America. As part of our growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced and outgoing individual to drive the success of our aggregate and mining operations segment.
The successful candidate will lead our mining and environmental services with a primary focus on aggregate and mining operations. This role involves managing projects, participating in the development and permitting of mining projects, overseeing staff, and ensuring regulatory compliance while maintaining efficient project execution. The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental permitting, aggregate quarry development, and mining evaluations, along with strong leadership skills to drive successful project outcomes.
This position requires a motivated individual capable of managing multiple projects across NRM’s expanding service lines, ensuring timely and successful project delivery while maintaining strong client relationships.
Primary Job Responsibilities
The Project Manager – Mining & Environmental Services is responsible for overseeing client accounts, managing multiple projects, and ensuring the smooth execution of mining, aggregate, and environmental service operations. This role requires expertise in project execution, regulatory compliance, and staff leadership.
- Project Management & Execution
o Manage multiple projects related to aggregate quarry development, mining evaluations, and environmental permitting from initiation to completion.
o Participate in zoning hearings, public meetings, and create presentations for our clients and act on their behalf in presenting projects to the public.
o Ensure all projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet regulatory compliance standards.
o Oversee budget, timelines, and quality control for projects across site development, environmental consulting, and resource management.
- Client & Regulatory Engagement
o Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
o Act as a liaison between clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams, ensuring smooth project approvals and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Team Leadership & Operations
o Oversee and mentor staff, ensuring they meet performance expectations and project deadlines.
o Lead weekly check-in meetings, assign projects, track progress, and review tasks to ensure efficiency.
o Approve timesheets and oversee resource allocation for successful project execution.
- Technical & Compliance Expertise
o Conduct mining evaluations, prepare technical reports, and support environmental permitting efforts.
o Ensure all projects comply with industry best practices and environmental, geological, and mining regulations.
o Coordinate with technical teams to deliver high-quality, data-driven solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in project management within environmental, engineering, or geological sectors.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Strong background in aggregate quarry development, permitting, and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of GIS mapping, AutoCAD, and other relevant industry software is preferred.
- PMP certification (preferred but not required).
- Professional certifications such as PE, PG/CPG, or CPESC are highly desirable.
