Job description:
Department: Implementation
Reports To: Senior Director of Technology & Implementation
Location: Hybrid (NYC or Boston areas preferred). Ideal for self-motivated professionals who enjoy both technical remote work and practical onsite execution.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $90,000 – $140,000 annually (depending on experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly capable Integrations Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and support of system integrations for power monitoring, energy management, and Building Management Systems (BMS). This hands-on, hybrid role combines deep software expertise with practical field work — managing remote project oversight and onsite installations, troubleshooting, and deployments.
The ideal candidate excels in software and field management, with proven experience in BMS integration using BACnet/IP interfaces (especially on Linux/NUC devices as edge gateways/servers for BACnet/IP communication). You will ensure end-to-end connectivity from field hardware (e.g., Acquisuite data acquisition servers, cell modems) through NUC-based BACnet/IP interfaces to secure networking (OpenVPN) and AWS cloud resources, delivering reliable, accurate, complete, scalable solutions for our commercial real estate clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead remote and onsite project management: Oversee full lifecycle of integration projects (planning, scheduling, resources, risks, stakeholder communication, accurate data) — coordinating virtual/remote work and physical site visits.
Perform hands-on field installations and configurations: Install, commission, and troubleshoot power monitoring/BMS field equipment (e.g., Acquisuite/Obvius/Leviton data acquisition servers, cell modems, Modbus devices, pulse/analog sensors) at customer sites.
Manage embedded hardware for data collection, local processing, edge integration, and BACnet/IP server/gateway functionality in BMS setups.
Implement secure networking solutions: Set up and maintain VPN tunnels for secure remote access to field devices, on-premise systems, and BACnet/IP networks.
Leverage AWS for cloud integration: Design/manage AWS components (e.g., EC2, S3, VPCs, IAM, CloudWatch) to enable data upload, processing, visualization, and interoperability with BMS platforms.
Drive BMS integration with BACnet/IP: Configure and troubleshoot BACnet/IP interfaces on hardware devices (including device discovery, object mapping, Read/Write-Property services,); ensure seamless communication with third-party BACnet-compatible systems.
Troubleshooting and support: Diagnose/resolve issues across hardware, software, network, and protocol layers (remote via VPN/tools or onsite); provide 2nd/3rd-line support for deployed BMS/power monitoring systems.
Drive +99% uptime for BMS Interface and meter data logging devices
Ensure quality and documentation: Conduct testing (including integration for BMS workflows), maintain records, and adhere to safety, compliance, and best practices.
Drive efficiency: Identify improvements in deployment processes, automate tasks, and enhance system reliability/scalability in BMS environments.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 7+ years in systems integration, engineering, or field operations; at least 5 years leading projects with a mix of remote management and onsite/field work.
Technical Skills (Must-Have):
Hands-on experience with BACnet/IP for BMS integration (device/object discovery, services like Who-Is/I-Am, Read/Write-Property; familiarity with BACnet standards, gateways, and interoperability in building automation/HVAC/energy systems).
Direct experience configuring/troubleshooting BACnet/IP interfaces on Linux devices (e.g., as edge servers/gateways for data logging, protocol translation, and BMS connectivity).
Proficiency in VPN's for secure remote/field access.
Direct experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting power monitoring/BMS field equipment (e.g., Acquisuite/Obvius/Leviton data acquisition servers with BACnet support, cell modems, Modbus RTU/TCP devices, pulse/analog sensors).
Background in utilities, industrial IoT, building automation, or energy management.
Experience with energy/submetering/BMS systems (Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet/IP, Ethernet gateways, data logging/upload protocols like HTTP/FTP/XML).
Project and Field Management: Proven ability to manage remote/onsite projects; comfortable with travel (up to 25% as needed), site safety protocols, and coordinating with customers/vendors.
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership; ability to work independently in the field while collaborating remotely.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in AWS (EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.) for cloud connectivity and data management.
Familiarity with related tools (e.g., monitoring/alerting, BACnet protocol analyzers).
